Wedgwood Galley Kitchen Remodel

Wedgwood Galley Kitchen Remodel

This showstopper kitchen remodel in Seattle’s Wedgwood neighborhood is proof that in a mid-century galley kitchen, you really can have it all.

Before, the original 1950s kitchen was defined by tile countertops and wasted space that left the kitchen feeling disconnected and inefficient. Now, bold blue cabinetry, matte black fixtures, and a reimagined layout bring function and flair to every square inch. The new design nods to the home’s mid-century roots while introducing the clean lines, clever storage, and open flow to the living room the clients were craving.

Behind the DESIGN

One of the most impactful layout changes in this remodel was removing the original pantry, which was tucked around the corner across from the side door. While pantries are often seen as a plus, this one closed off the kitchen and disrupted the overall flow. In its place, we created a streamlined serving area that works hard in both daily life and when hosting — it’s now a perfect drop zone for keys and mail, and easily doubles as a bar or buffet when entertaining guests. At the same end of the kitchen, we added counter seating beneath the picture window, creating a casual hangout where the homeowners or guests can sit, chat, or enjoy a drink while someone’s cooking. The team at PQT Construction brought this design to life with care, attention to detail, and expert craftsmanship – bravo!
