Bothell Built-Ins & Fireplace Design
This built-in bookshelf and fireplace design took an uninspiring feature of this Bothell home and created a show-stopping focal point.
Though we originally set out to simply reface with new tile, we quickly saw a need for integrated storage. By using the entire wall for the fireplace, mantel, and built-in shelves, the homeowners now have needed storage for books and and a gorgeous refaced fireplace to curl up next to.

Behind the DESIGN
The owners of this Bothell home gave us two guiding constraints for their fireplace renovation: it needed to tie in with the nearby kitchen, and it should evoke their love of the natural Pacific Northwest aesthetic. When choosing a new tile to reface the fireplace, we selected several options, but their reaction to this Surface Art tile showed a clear winner. They loved the deep colors and organic patterns in the context of their home – sometimes a feeling is all you need, and the design comes together from there! To finish out and elevate the space, we opted to extend the hardwood flooring from the nearby kitchen. The upgrade ties together the shift toward a more natural look and improves visual continuity.
